ADILABAD, JANUARY 23, 2026: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, in a coordinated operation along with the Adilabad Police, seized stocks purported to be ‘Oxytocin Injections’ intended for misuse in cattle at Adilabad district.
Officials of DCA Adilabad Zone, in a coordinated operation with the Adilabad Police, seized 109 unlabelled transparent PET bottles (200 ml), purported to be Oxytocin Injections, from Mr Mautho Aravind Kumar, on Thursday. Mautho Aravind Kumar illegally stocked injections purported to contain Oxytocin for sale, intended for misuse in cattle. Such misuse involves the administration of oxytocin to dairy animals to artificially increase milk production. However, this unauthorised use of Oxytocin may have adverse effects on animal health.

A Srilatha, Drugs Inspector, Adilabad, along with K Nagaraju of the II Town Police Station, Adilabad, and their staff, carried out the joint operation. Further investigation shall be carried out, and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders. The abuse of oxytocin in livestock, particularly its illegal administration to artificially induce milk let-down and increase milk production in dairy animals, constitutes an offence.
Unauthorised stocking and sale of ‘Oxytocin Injections’ is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with imprisonment of up to five years.
DCA Director General Shahnawaz Qasim said the public may report any complaints regarding illegal activities related to medicines, as well as any other suspected manufacturing activities concerning drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
