
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 23, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided an unlicensed premises operating under the name Healthy Pets Animal Hospital in Gundlapochampally Village, Medchal Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District. During the raid, huge stocks of veterinary drugs, stocked for sale at the premises operating illegally without a drug licence, were seized on Friday.
Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, acting on credible information regarding the illegal stocking and sale of veterinary medicines, raided an unlicensed premises operating under the name Healthy Pets Animal Hospital at Aparna Kanopy Road, Gundlapochampally Village, Medchal Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, on 22nd August, 2025.
The said premises was being operated illegally as a veterinary clinic and was found to be stocking veterinary drugs for sale without a valid drug licence. During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of a large quantity of veterinary medicines. A total of 40 varieties of veterinary medicines, including 5 varieties of Physician Samples, were found stocked for government of Telananga DCA sale at the premises and the stock, worth Rs. 60,000, was seized during the raid.
Dr. B. Lakshmi Narayana, Assistant Director, Medchal, Smt. B. Mounika, Drugs Inspector, Medchal, and Dr. R. Geethanjali, Drugs Inspector, Prashanthinagar were among the officers who carried out the raid. DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders. Wholesalers/Dealers who supply veterinary medicines to such unlicensed entities, which are stocking and selling drugs without a drug licence, are also punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and stringent action shall be taken against such Wholesalers/Dealers. Wholesalers/Dealers shall mandatorily ensure that the recipient entities hold a valid drug licence before supplying medicines to them. Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, issues drug licences for the stocking and selling of veterinary medicines in accordance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Stocking veterinary drugs for sale without a drug licence is punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, with imprisonment for up to five years. Public Awareness The public should avoid purchasing veterinary medicines from unlicensed sources. Purchasing medicines from such sources significantly increases the risk to animal health, as they are unregulated.
