HYDERABAD, MARCH 13, 2026: CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad, organised an Industry Interaction Meet with Laghu Udyog Bharati on Friday at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, CSIR-IICT, to strengthen collaboration between scientific research institutions and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
The meeting was organised by the Business Development & Research Management (BDRM) Division of CSIR-IICT to strengthen linkages between the institute and industry. The programme brought together approximately 75 entrepreneurs from the MSME sector, representing industries including chemicals, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), polymers, food processing, energy, and environmental technologies.
Addressing the gathering, Dr D. Srinivasa Reddy, Director, CSIR-IICT, said that CSIR-IICT is committed to translating scientific research into technologies that benefit industry and society. The institute has developed several indigenous technologies such as the Hydrazine Hydrate process technology, which supports import substitution in the chemical sector, along with API manufacturing processes, catalytic technologies for speciality chemicals and biomethanation technologies for waste-to-energy. Through technology licensing, pilot-scale validation, and industry collaboration, CSIR-IICT actively supports MSMEs and startups in adopting innovative and sustainable manufacturing processes.
He said that strong partnerships between research institutions and MSME industries are essential for accelerating innovation, strengthening domestic manufacturing, and building an Atmanirbhar Bharat. He reiterated that CSIR-IICT remains committed to translating research into technologies that generate industrial growth, economic value, and societal impact.
During the meeting, scientists from CSIR-IICT presented key technologies and research initiatives that can support industries in improving production efficiency, sustainability, and global competitiveness. The interaction provided a valuable platform for industry members to explore technology licensing, consultancy services, process optimization, pilot-scale development, and collaborative R&D opportunities with the institute. Representatives from Laghu Udyog Bharati appreciated the initiative and expressed keen interest in working with CSIR-IICT to adopt advanced technologies and enhance the technological capabilities of MSMEs.
