
NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 12, 2025: CP Radhakrishnan has assumed charge as the 15th Vice President of the country on Friday.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath to Mr Radhakrishnan at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Mr Radhakrishnan has won elections by defeating B Sudarshan Reddy by 152 votes.
The election was necessitated due to the sudden resignation of the then Vice President Jagdeep Dhanmkar on July 21 over health issues. Incidentally, Mr Dhankar also attended the ceremony.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attended the ceremony, tweeted in X post: “Attended the oath-taking ceremony of Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji. A dedicated public servant, he has devoted his life to nation-building, social service and strengthening democratic values. Wishing him a successful Vice Presidential tenure, dedicated to the service of the people.”
Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president J.P. Nadda were among those who attended the programme. Former Vice Presidents Hamid Ansari and Venkaiah Naidu were also present at the ceremony.
