HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 24, 2026: The Central Government Health Scheme department under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare celebrated its Golden Jubilee at the IICT auditorium in Hyderabad on Sunday. The event saw a reunion of CGHS retired officials and staff who rendered services to the people through its various units. The Central government health Scheme provides comprehensive health services to Central government employees, pensioners, sitting and ex-MPs, freedom fighters, various autonomous institutes, etc.CGHS Hyderabad was started on 16-2-1976. The celebration was inaugurated by
Dr Rohini Prathaban, Additional Director General, CGHS. Hyderabad. Dr Rajendra Panduranga Joshi, Additional Director General, CGHS, and Dr Srinivas Reddy, DIRECTOR IICT, were the guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rohini Prathanan, Additional Director General, recalled the yeoman services extended by the CGHS to its beneficiaries. She called upon officials and staff to re-dedicate themselves by providing services on the occasion. Dr Rohini thanked the continued support of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the cooperation of all stakeholders.
On the occasion, a souvenir (e-magazine) “Suvarna Kiran” was released. The occasion also saw felicitation for Retired Additional Directors, retired doctors and staff of the CGHS.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations saw cultural activities, bathukamma and sankranthi song, folk songs, dances on patriotic songs, patriotic songs, a comedy skit, depicting work-life at CGHS.
CGHS was started in two rooms near Charminar, Hyderabad, in 1976 with three wellness centres. Today, it has grown to 21 wellness centres, 2 polyclinics, and 8 ayush centres across the two Telugu States. Today it serves 2.7 lakh beneficiaries across two Telugu States.
