BJP appeals to voters with the slogan of ‘Okka Avakasham Evandi” for the development of municipalities with central funds
Congress campaign remains low-key, and BRS is suffering from the anti-incumbency factor

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 05, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar is far ahead of other political parties in the electioneering in the Municipal elections in his Lok Sabha parliament constituency covering Karimnagar, Sircilla, Vemulawada, Huzurabad, Jammikunta and other municipalities.
The BJP had launched the electioneering with much pomp and gaiety in all municipalities of the Karimnagar parliament constituency. The Union Minister had taken up the municipal elections as a prestigious one, leaving no stone unturned to win the elections and fly the BJP flag on all the municipalities of his constituency. Incidentally, there was overwhelming response to his streeet corner meetings with heavy turnout.
The Union Minister is addressing the street corner meetings in all municipalities to give a fillip to the electioneering. Incidentally, the rebels’ threat is much less in the BJP when compared to the Congress party. Mr Bandi Sanjay also directed all the contestants of the party to visit each and every household by conducting rallies in various municipal divisions.
The BJP had also released an election manifesto titled “Okka Avakasham Evandi” (Give us one chance), and see the transformation of the Karimnagar with the central government funds. The Union Minister had been stating in the electioneering that he was instrumental in getting the Smart City funds tothe Karimnagar municipality.

On the other hand, the Congress party, which is plagued by the threat of rebels, is lagging in the electioneering in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. Due to the non-availability of a Minister or a Government Whip in Karimnagar district, the electioneering of the Congress party had become a low-key affair without a charismatic leader. Even though the party appointed Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao as in-charge Minister in Karimnagar municipal elections, the campaigning is yet to gain momentum.
However, the Congress is confident of attaining the MCK Mayor Post with the support of MIM, which is going to play a deciding factor in the elections as it would surprise in the elections by winning more than 10 divisions out of 66 divisions. Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar is focusing on his Husnabad municipality by campaigning rigorously.
While the BRS is facing an anti-incumbency factor, as it has ruled the Karimnagar municipal corporation since the formation of Telangana state. The people of Karimnagar town were frustrated for reverse development of the Municipal corporation taken up during the BRS regime in the name of Sthe mart City project by converting broad roads into narrow roads and encroaching the Circus ground and Government old high school grounds and converting it into ‘paid parks’. Besides, the BRS had shrunken the sprawling Ambedkar stadium grounds by constructing an unnecessary shopping complex, which remained unoccupied and numerous toilets for obvious reasons. The BRS had denied lung space for the people of Karimnagar encraoching parks
The BRS had also failed to fulfill the promise of providing 24×7 drinking water supply to the people of Karimnagar town. The Helipad park on the premises of the Collectorate, which was open for the people for walking and other recreational purposes, was closed by the BRS government in the name of the construction of new Collectorate complex by demolishing the existing and first of its kind integrated Collectorate complex of the integrated Andhra Pradesh state.
