
Kala Mahotsav Sees Strong Public Response; Handicraft Sales Near ₹2 Crore
Over 1 Lakh Visit Rashtrapati Nilayam’s Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav; Cultural Performances Draw Crowds
HYDERABAD, NOVEMBER 28, 2025: The second edition of the Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Secunderabad, has drawn an overwhelming public response, crossing the one-lakh visitor mark by the seventh day of the event. The cultural festival, which began on November 22, will conclude on November 30. Officials expect the footfall to rise further over the weekend.
According to Rashtrapati Nilayam authorities, sales at the Textiles and Handicrafts pavilion have touched nearly ₹2 crore, indicating strong interest in traditional handlooms and crafts. The Food Court has also seen brisk activity with sales crossing ₹27 lakh.
The Mahotsav has so far staged 29 folk performances, featuring 298 artists from western India. The line-up includes Rajasthan’s Mashak Vadan, Ravan Hatta, Bahurupiya, Kalberia Nrutya, Mayur Nrutya and Bhaavai; Goa’s Ghumat Vadan and Samayi Nrutya; Gujarat’s Siddi Dhamal, Talvaar Raas and Garba; Maharashtra’s Dhol Tasha, Lezim, Songi Mukhavate and Lavani–Koli; and Bhovada and Tarpa Nrutya from Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
In addition to cultural performances, the festival features curated exhibitions, live craft demonstrations, workshops and interactive sessions. Visitor services such as on-the-spot booking, e-carts, wheelchairs and Scholar Guides are functioning smoothly, officials said.
Dr K. Rajani Priya, Estate Manager, Rashtrapati Nilayam, said the event will remain open to the public till November 30, with concluding attractions planned for the final days. Entry is free, and visitors may register online through the official portal or via the QR code displayed on event publicity material. On-the-spot registration is also available at the venue.
