
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 23, 2025: Students of St George Ninos and Paradise High School, Karimnagar town, celebrated the Bathukamma festivities with much pomp and gaiety on its premises on Tuesday.
The girl students and women teachers arrived in their best attire. After offering prayers to the Goddess Gauri, the students and teachers prepared the Bathukammas by stacking different varieties of flowers in a conical shape. On the occasion, students were told about the importance of celebrating Bathukamma. They were also informed about the significance of various traditional flowers, such as Thangedu, Gunugu, Marigold, Chrysanthemum, and Lotus, and their medicinal properties.
The atmosphere was electric, with girls and teachers clad in traditional attire and jewellery, singing and dancing around the beautiful floral formations of Goddess Gouri in her praise with religious fervour and unmatched enthusiasm.
On this joyous occasion, the school invited all the parents to participate, who enthusiastically joined in dancing to Telangana Bathukamma folk songs. Later, a lively Dandiya dance was organised for couples, where students and teachers also joined, reflecting the rich culture and traditions of Telangana.
Later, the students presented the special features of Bathukamma and Dussehra through their songs, speeches and cultural programmes. The Kolatam and Dandiya games played by the students on this occasion were very impressive. St George Educational Institutions chairman P Fatima Reddy, Women’s police station Inspector Srilatha, Dr Sridevi, Satavahana University professor K Srivani, ACTO Rajitha, eminent writer Thotaa Nirmala Rani, City Mahila Congress president Vennam Rajitha Reddy and others participated.
