
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, AUGUST 19, 2025: An awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was conducted by the Career Guidance Cell of Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet in collaboration with TASK on Tuesday. The session was chaired by V Vijaya Lakshmi, Principal, and convened by Sravan, with the support of Vice-Principal Prabhakar, faculty members Anjaneeyulu, Vani, Dharmapuri, Adivishnu, Manohar, and other lecturers.
The keynote address was delivered by Shankar Rao Munjam, who spoke on the theme “IPR and Patents for a New Digital Era: Innovations, Challenges and Strategic Pathways.” He highlighted the importance of Intellectual Property Rights in safeguarding ideas and innovations, and elaborated on the different types of IPR, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, geographical indications, and industrial designs.
Mr Munjam emphasised that innovation and research are the foundation of economic growth and national development. He explained the procedures for applying for patents and IPRs, while also guiding participants on how to check and verify IPRs through official websites such as the Intellectual Property India portal and WIPO.
The session created awareness among students and faculty about the need to protect creative work in the digital age, where challenges like plagiarism, piracy, and misuse of intellectual property are widespread. The resource person also provided strategic insights into how India can strengthen its innovation ecosystem through effective IPR protection.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where participants raised questions about practical aspects of patent filing and innovation-based entrepreneurship.
