
Focus on Safety, Sustainability, and Collaboration Across Adventure Tourism Segments
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 20, 2025: The Hyderabad Office of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), successfully organised the Adventure Tourism Seminar: Navigating toward a Safer and Stronger Future today in Hyderabad.
The seminar witnessed the participation of nearly 90 stakeholders representing adventure tour operators, service providers, travel agencies, travel bloggers, adventure sports specialists, tour guides, educational institutions, and government officials. This diverse representation reflected the industry’s strong interest and commitment to building a safer and more sustainable adventure tourism sector.
Delivering the keynote address, Ms. Valluru Kranthi, IAS, Managing Director, Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation, emphasised Telangana’s emerging trails and adventure potential, highlighting the state’s initiatives in developing safe and sustainable adventure experiences.
Mr. D. Venkatesan, Regional Director (South), India Tourism, outlined the Government of India’s vision for building a globally recognized and community-empowering adventure tourism sector, while Mr. Nirat Bhatt, Honorary Treasurer, ATOAI, spoke on standards, protocols, and the importance of training in ensuring safe adventures.
A panel discussion featuring Mr. Sagar Pingali (Vice President, EEMA), Prof. Venkata Ramana (Director, NITHM), Mr. Shekhar Babu (ATOAI), and moderated by Ms. Ajita Madan (ATOAI) underscored the need for robust training, crisis management, and adherence to adventure law.
The event also included an interactive session where adventure operators, ATOAI members, and tourism officials engaged in open dialogue to address on-ground challenges and explore collaborative solutions.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Krupakar Ravipati, Assistant Director, India Tourism Hyderabad, reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting adventure tourism growth in the region.
The seminar concluded with the release and distribution of the ATOAI Safety Guidelines Book. This initiative marks a significant step toward positioning India as a responsible, safe, and sustainable adventure tourism.
