
Joint press meet by SLBC, Telangana and Press Information Bureau, Telangana
HYDERABAD, JULY 28, 2025: The State Level Bankers Committee, Telangana, in association with the Press Information Bureau, Hyderabad, organised a joint press conference on the three-month campaign for saturation of the Financial Inclusion scheme in the state.
S Radhakrishnan, CGM, Hyderabad circle and chairman of SLBC, Telangana, addressed the press briefing and highlighted the objectives, strategies, and expected outcomes of the three-month Financial inclusion campaign and Saturation under Social Security schemes, has been started from 1st July 2025 to 30th September 2025.
- As part of this, the campaign is launched in Telangana State as well on 1st July 2025, and Banks are actively organising the camps across the State.
- The programs will be organised in all the 12,708 Gram Panchayats in the state of Telangana.
- The objective of this campaign is to ensure access to essential financial services such as banking, insurance, and pension up to the Gram Panchayat level and to enrol eligible citizens in the corresponding schemes.
- The key components of the campaign include
- ReKYC of existing inactive bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and also non-PMJDY accounts
- Opening of new bank accounts for individuals who do not have one yet
- Promoting enrolment in the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
- Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
- Awareness for Digital Fraud Prevention and ways to access unclaimed deposits.
- During this campaign, at least one special camp will be organised in every Gram Panchayat across all districts in the country by the banks with active participation of the State administration and other Ministries of the Government of India, to ensure that the benefits of the Financial Inclusion schemes reach the masses.
- The two social security schemes of the Government of India, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), are aimed at providing life and accidental insurance cover to the citizens, especially the marginal sections of society.
- PMJJBY provides insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakhs at annual premium of Rs. 436/- in the event of death due to any reason, whereas PMSBY provides accidental insurance cover of Rs.2 lakh at the annual premium of Rs. 20/- for death or full permanent disability and Rs.1 lakh in case of partial permanent disability.
- The two schemes provide the much-needed financial support to the subscribers and/or their families in such eventualities.
- The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) encourages voluntary savings for retirement and offers a guaranteed minimum pension ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000 per month after the age of 60 to the workers of the unorganized sector, thereby ensuring financial security during old age of the subscriber.
- State Bank of India, being the Convenor of State Level Bankers Committee, Telangana State, has disseminated the directives issued by the Department of Financial Services, Government of India, to all Banks and Lead District Managers in the State, for necessary action and compliance.
- The campaign is being coordinated by the Lead Districts Managers under the overall guidance and directions of the respective District Collector & District Magistrate.
- The responsibility for organizing the camp at a particular Gram Panchayat has been assigned by the District Level Consultative Committee (DLCC) of the respective district through Lead District Manager to the Bank which is having branch in that Panchayat or its neighbourhood.
- The following activities shall also be undertaken by the Banks during the campaign-
- Opening of bank accounts for unbanked adults under PMJDY.
- Enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
- Enrolments under Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
- ReKYC for existing all inactive accounts including PMJDY accounts.
- Awareness for Digital Fraud Prevention and ways to access unclaimed deposits.
- Updating nominations in deposit accounts (wherever pending)
- To create awareness among public to get settlement of their unclaimed deposits with Banks, if any
- Promote the campaign through print and electronic media and encourage people to enrol in PMJJBY and PMSBY by in person claim disbursals (if any) at camp locations.
- We appeal to all citizens to actively participate in this important campaign and take advantage of the banking and social security schemes to ensure economic security for themselves and their families.
- We also urge everyone to come forward for Re-KYC, failing which the accounts may be frozen for financial transactions and for nomination updation, leading to inconvenience for the account holders. For more information, citizens can contact their nearest bank branch or district lead bank office.
Progress of the Campaign so far in Telangana State
- As on 27.07.2025, Banks have so far scheduled Camps in 4,400 Gram Panchayats
- 67,541 applications are received under PMSBY, of which 42,027 are covered
- 53,460 applications are received under PMJJBY, of which 30,803 are covered
- Similarly, 9,244 applications are received for Atal Pension Yojana, of which 5,535 are enrolled
- In respect of Re-KYC aspect, details are received in 9,313 PMJDY accounts and 9,138 Non-PMJDY accounts and these are activated.
- 15,932 Nomination details are obtained and updated.
