KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 28, 2025: To provide a new lease of life to abandoned infants, a ‘Cradle’ service has been started in the district recently.
The ‘Cradle’ service has been set up at Mother and Child Health Centre in Karimnagar, where caretakers have been appointed to look after the little ones in the cradle. A bell has been installed with the cradle so that the people are able to ring it to make the caretakers aware of the newcomers in the cradle.
Launching this noble scheme in the district, Collector Pamela Satpathy said, “Abandoning a child is a crime, but if anyone still wants to give their child, we appeal to them to leave the child in the ‘cradle’ so that we can take care of it.”
Accordingly, on Saturday, a 15-month-old baby boy was abandoned at a cradle placed in MCHC on Saturday at 4:00 pm. The baby was received by SAA as well as the Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA). The screening will be conducted on Monday.
