SIGNIFICANCE OF PAVITROTSAVAMS
According to the Agama scriptures, even celestial beings find it difficult to perform rituals perfectly in accordance with sacred texts.
As humans, due to ignorance or limitations, our offerings to the deities may sometimes lack proper mantras, devotion, or ritual precision.
To atone for such inadvertent errors or omissions that occur during daily, weekly, monthly, and annual rituals, the Pavitrotsavam is observed once in a year.
This sacred festival purifies all such lapses, bestows the fruits of Yajnas, removes all doshas (impurities), and sanctifies the mind, body, senses, and deeds of the devotees.
It is thus regarded as one of the most powerful purificatory rituals in temple traditions.
