TIRUPATI/VONTIMITTA, MARCH 31, 2026: As part of the annual Brahmotsavams at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, the fifth day celebrations on Tuesday morning witnessed the Lord being taken in a grand procession on a palanquin in Mohini Alankaram, captivating devotees. The Vahana Seva was held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM with great devotion and grandeur. Amidst devotional singing, bhajans, and traditional kolatam performances, the Lord was taken around the four mada streets. Devotees offered camphor harati at every step and had darshan of the Lord.
The story of the Mohini avatar is beautifully described in the Srimad Bhagavatam. During the churning of the ocean (Ksheera Sagara) by Devas and Asuras for nectar (Amritam), a dispute arose over its distribution. To resolve this and to ensure that the nectar reached the Devas, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Mohini, enchanting the Asuras. Through this divine form, it is conveyed that those without devotion fall prey to illusion (Maya), while true devotees can easily transcend it.
