KARIMNAGAR, JULY 12, 2024: The traditional annual Ashadam month Bonalu festival was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety at Blue Bells High School, Hanumannagar in Karimnagar town, on Saturday.
Principal Janga Sunitha Manohar Reddy, participating as chief guest, highlighted the importance of the Bonalu festival, which is a symbol of Telangana’s rich tradition and is celebrated grandly in every village during the auspicious Ashadam month.
Special offerings including turmeric, vermilion, and Bonam were presented to the village deities — Pochamma, Maisamma, Ellamma, Mahankali, and Amma Peddamma — seeking blessings for peace and prosperity for everyone.
Mrs. Janga Sunitha Manohar Reddy personally led the preparation of Bonam in the school premises and offered it to the Goddess with a colourful procession accompanied by traditional drum beats. The event was made more vibrant with Pothurajus and Shivashaktis performing traditional dances in devotional attire. Students, teachers, and parents participated enthusiastically, making the celebrations a grand success.
