
KARIMNAGAR, JULY 18, 2025: Students of Bhagavathi High School, Bhagathnagar, Karimnagar, celebrated the Bonalu festival with pomp and great enthusiasm on Friday. As part of the celebrations, students donned the roles of Pothuraju and Ammavaru and carried Bonalu amid ‘teen maar’ drum beats.
The event was graced by school’s coordinators, P Rammohan Rao and Kalavathy, as the chief guests. They explained the significance of the Bonalu festival, which is celebrated to appease the goddess of nature during the Ashadam month. The use of neem leaves for their antibiotic properties to check the spread of diseases during the rainy season.
The students showcased their talents through various performances, including dances and traditional attire. The Bonalu festival is celebrated in the month of Ashadam to seek the blessings of the goddess of nature.
