PUNE, JUNE 15, 2025: In a shocking incident, at least six persons were feared dead, and more than 15 persons trapped in debris, and another 25 swept away after a bridge collapsed over the Indrayani river near Kundamala village in Pimpri-Chinchwad, near Pune on Sunday evening.
Following the weekend, scores of people visited the bridge and the natural beauty with the flowing river. The visitors were standing on the old steel bridge when it suddenly gave way, plunging many into the river below.’
According to local media reports, the bridge was under heavy load due to the weekend crowd when it collapsed. Several people are feared to have drowned, though the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed. Three persons have been rescued so far following the incident, which occurred near the Kundamala area in Maval tehsil, police said. The NDRF teams are conducting rescue operations at the spot, an official said.
