BC Welfare association demands ex-gratia to bereaved family of weaver, who had committed suicide due to unemployment and debts

KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 17, 2024: Telangana BC Welfare Association State General Secretary Jakkani Sanjay Kumar has demanded that the state government should provide assistance to the bereaved handloom weaver, who had committed suicide by jumping under the running train in Kothapalli mandal on the outskirts of Karimnagar few days back.

In a statement here on Monday, Mr Sanjay said that weaver Bollabathini Venkatesh had committed by jumping under the running train on the outskirts of Karimnagar following unemployment and increasing debts. Mr Sanjay Kumar along with other BC leaders visited Kothapalli mandal and consoled the bereaved family members.

On this occasion, Mr Sanjay demanded the government to provide ex-gratia to the bereaved family members and distribute at least two powerlooms to the weavers each on subsidy. He also demanded the government to constitute Padmashali corporation to redress the grievances of the weavers.

Stating that around 22 weavers had committed in the Congress regime in the Telangana state, he reminded that the government to fulfil the promises made for the upliftment of the weavers of the state. Local leaders Chitkuri Srinivas, Penti Rajamouli, Rudra Param, Penti Srikanth, Narala Raju and others were also present.
