
HYDERABAD, JULY 01, 2025: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau have trapped a senior assistant working in the property tax wing of the Moosapet Circle-23 under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a person doing official favour in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Officials said that the accused officer, M Sunitha, demanded a bribe from a complainant to initiate and process the property mutation file and to fix the property tax for the complainant’s house, which is presently registered in the name of her mother. Initially, the accused officer demanded a bribe of Rs 80,000. Later, it was finalized to Rs 30,000.
Accordingly, the victim had approached the ACB Hyderabad city Range-2 unit of Telangana ACB, who laid a trap following the complaint and caught Sunitha red-handed while accepting the bribe. The officials recovered the entire bribe amount from her. A chemical test conducted on her right-hand fingers yielded a positive result, confirming that she had handled the tainted money.
The officer was arrested and is being sent to judicial remand. The ACB has registered a case, and further investigation is underway, according to a press release issued by the ACB officials.
