Union Minister JP Nadda responds to CM Revanth Reddy’s plea.
NEW DELHI, JULY 08, 2025: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers JP Nadda has assured that the Centre will extend all possible support to address fertiliser and urea shortage and provide relief to the farmers during the farming season. The Union Ministry made a statement to this effect on Wednesday.
An Official state delegation led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met the Union Minister in Delhi on Tuesday and requested Nadda to supply adequate urea and fertilisers to the state. The Chief Minister briefed the Union Minister about the shortage of urea and appealed for an uninterrupted supply of urea in July and August for the Kharif season.
Responding to the CM’s request, Union Minister Nadda assured him of full support to meet the demand for fertilisers from the farmers. Nadda instructed the officials of his ministry to ensure an adequate supply of urea to Telangana.
The union minister also instructed the state government officials to take necessary steps to ensure equal distribution of urea to various districts without diverting the stocks for non-agricultural needs.
Expressing serious concern over the increased urea consumption in the Telangana state, Nadda said that urea sales during the Rabi ( Yasangi) season in 2024-25 increased by 21 per cent compared to Rabi in 2023-24
The Union Minister of Fertilisers and Chemicals highlighted that the Centre is providing incentives to state governments through the ‘Pranam scheme’ to reduce the excessive use of chemical fertilisers and promote organic and natural farming.
