KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 17, 2024: Lions Club of Karimnagar Dr Bhaskar Madekar charitable eye hospital, Rekurthi in Karimnagar town, will be conducting a special glaucoma testing camp on June 19 from 10 am to 4 pm for the benefit of people of the district.
Glaucoma, an eye disease that damages the optic nerve and impairs vision, sometimes progressing to permanent blindness. Unlike cataract, this ailment is usually asymptomatic. However, timely treatment can help the patient retain useful vision lifelong.
In a statement here on Monday, Lions Club of Karimnagar charitable hospital chairman Konda Venu Murthy said that the people wearing the spectacles, suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure should undergo glaucoma tests at least once in a year as it is a ‘silent thief of sight’ and timely intervention can protect the eyesight.
