Election Commission gives standing ovation to the voters of the country

NEW DELHI, JUNE 03, 2024: India has created a world 642 million voters including 312 million women exercising their franchise in seven phases of elections conducted in the country.
The proud Indian voters have set a new world record which is 1.5 times higher than voters of G7 countries and 2.5 times higher than voters of 27 countries of European Union. On this occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, ECs Gyanesh Kumar and SS Sandhu and others gave a standing ovation to all voters especially for women voters who participated enthusiastically in the elections.
Addressing a press conference at ECI office in New Delhi on Monday, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that they had used world’s largest election mobilisation by deploying 1.5 crore polling and security personnel, 68,763 monitoring teams, 135 special trains, 1,692 air sorties and four lakh vehicles. Against repolling in 540 polling in 2019 elections, this elections there were only repolling in 39 polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. Elsewhere it was nil repolling in 27 states and UTs.
The voting turnout in Jammu and Kashmir was the highest in the last four decades with a record 58.58 percent polling. There were no major incidents of violence in Left-wing extremists’ areas of Jharkand, Chatisgarh, Odisha and Maharashtra and Manipur, West Bengal, J&K and across states.
Bastar Blooms
Around 102 villages of BASTAR DIVISION voted for the 1st time at a PS in their own village in a National Election. Severely Naxal-affected PCs of Bastar & Kanker recorded an upward trend of poll participation from the last Lok Sabha election.
The EC had seized a record Rs 1054 crore, Rs 898 crore worth liquor Rs 1459 crore precious metal and Rs 2198 crore freebies. The authorities seized Rs 4391 crore worth drugs in this elections. The EC had effectively implemented the Model Code of Conduct and disposed off over 90 per cent of 495 major complaints. Less violence, less noise, less clutter and less inducement in last two months. Notices were served to several top leaders and FIRs against many and transfer of top officials to sanitise election space. For the first time, Home voting process was introduced to help voters who crossed 85 years and for physically challenged persons.
The EC received 4.56 lakh complaints on c-Vigil app largely pertaining to posters and banners without permission (3.48 lakh cases). Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr SS Sandhu and others were also present.
