Rooftop Solar Installations Achieve an Installed Capacity of 61.50 MW
NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 05, 2026: The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was launched by the Prime Minister on 13.02.2024. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is the nodal Ministry for the Yojana.
Under the Scheme, of the 4,144 buildings identified, a total of 2,576 Government buildings have been solarised, with an installed rooftop solar capacity of 61.50 MW.
Among the various components of the Yojana is the saturation of Government buildings by December 2025.
Implementing Agency for the Ministry of Finance
NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd. (NVVN) was designated as the implementing agency for the Ministry of Finance (MoF). However, all rooftop solar installations across participating organisations have been executed independently by the respective entities under CAPEX or OPEX models. NVVN has not undertaken any solarisation work for the Department of Financial Services (DFS).
| Total Buildings | 4144 |
| Total Buildings found feasible for solarization after feasibility study conducted by organizations | 2576 |
| Buildings Solarized | 2576 |
| Total Feasible Capacity | 62.70 MW |
| Installed Capacity | 61.50 MW* |
The difference of 1.20 MW in the total generation capacity accounts for buildings with structural shading constraints, rendering them only partially viable for solar PV deployment.
Top 5 Organizations of DFS in terms of solarization of roof top.
