KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 28, 2026: The BJP Karimnagar district unit has urged the state government to declare the entire Karimnagar district as drought-affected. Alleging injustice in the declaration of drought mandals in the district, the BJP leaders flayed the government for declaring only three mandals as drought-affected, neglecting the entire district.
Accordingly, the BJP leaders led by its former district president Gangadi Krishna Reddy, senior leader Basa Satyanarayana Rao, district general secretary Gujja, Srinivas Rao, Kanumalla Ganapathy, deputy mayor and state spokesperson Y Sunil Rao, parliament convener Boinpalli Praveen Rao and Kisan Morcha state vice president Singireddy Krishna Reddy submitted a memorandum to Collector Chitra Mishra in Karimnagar town on Wednesday demanding inclusion of all mandals in the drought list and declaring the entire Karimnagar district as drought-hit.
The BJP leaders said that due to lack of timely rains and lack of proper electricity supply, the crop yield in the district has been completely damaged and the groundwater has dried up. Due to acute shortage of water for irrigation and drinking purposes, the economic condition of the farmers and the common people has been badly affected. He demanded that the drought-affected areas should be scientifically assessed not only on the basis of normal rainfall data, but also on the basis of zone-wise rainfall, soil moisture, crop loss, availability of irrigation water, groundwater level, satellite images and field reports of the Agriculture Department.
Every eligible mandal should be included in the drought-affected list, and a review should be conducted on a war footing on the implementation of relief measures such as input subsidy, restructuring of crop loans, irrigation, drinking water and fodder applicable to drought-affected farmers. They urged the District Collector to take appropriate steps to ensure complete justice to the farmers of Karimnagar district keeping in view the welfare of farmers, conservation of agriculture and stability of the rural economy.
