KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 21, 2026: A delegation from the All Unions and Associations of BSNL (AUAB) has urged Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar to use his office to approve the long-pending third Pay Revision of BSNL employees.
Accordingly, a delegation comprised of key district leaders and senior union representatives, including Bandari Santhosh Kumar (District Secretary, SNEA Karimnagar), S. Sathiah (District Secretary, BSNLEU), G. Kishan (District President, SEWA), and Ch. Linga Chary (District Secretary, NFTE), Senior leaders Ch. Satheesh Kumar, S. Ashwin Kumar, V. Dhanunjay, K. Narender, and RDN Prasad and others submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister in Karimnagar ton on Wednesday.
The leaders urged the Union Minister to seek his immediate intervention for the early approval and implementation of the long-pending Third Pay/Wage Revision for BSNL Executives and Non-Executives. The leaders urged the Union Minister to address the growing disparity and injustice faced by thousands of BSNL employees across the country who have been deprived of their legitimate pay revision, which became due on January 1, 2017.
Gross Injustice under the Guise of Rules
The AUAB representatives expressed deep concern that while officers working on deputation within BSNL are receiving updated financial benefits, the company’s own dedicated workforce is being denied the same. They pointed out that the “affordability clause” is being cited as the principal roadblock. The unions emphasised that BSNL’s performance cannot be evaluated solely on commercial profitability, given the extensive strategic and public service obligations it shoulders—such as providing affordable connectivity to rural and remote areas and executing critical national projects.
Proposal Awaiting Union Cabinet Nod
The delegation highlighted that the BSNL Management completed all required formalities and forwarded its duly recommended proposal for the Pay/Wage revision to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on February 24, 2026. Following this, the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) directed the DoT to take the proposal to the Union Cabinet for final waiver and approval. However, bureaucratic delays within the DoT over the last several months have kept the file pending. They emphasised that a timely resolution would serve as a vital morale booster for the workforce, who are currently working under challenging circumstances to roll out India’s indigenous 4G and 5G telecommunications infrastructure.
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar Assures Full Support
Responding positively to the representation, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar assured the delegation that he would personally look into the matter and definitely extend his full support in resolving this long-pending issue. Most notably, the Minister explicitly promised that he would take up the matter directly with the Union Minister of Communications (MOC), Jyotiraditya Scindia, to clear the administrative hurdles and facilitate an early resolution for the BSNL workforce.
