
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, OCTOBER 03, 2026: A two-day hands-on learning workshop on “Weaving and Textile Marketing” commenced on Saturday at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College, Shatrajupalli, Vemulawada, as part of the 100 Days Academic Empowerment Programme of Satavahana University.
As part of the workshop, a special exhibition was organised featuring arts and crafts, textile artworks, and handmade products created by the students. The wide range of creative exhibits reflected the talent, imagination, and artistic skills of the students and attracted the attention of the visitors.
The exhibition also featured a collection of woven textile exhibits personally designed and woven by National Handloom Award recipient and renowned handloom designer from Sircilla, Sri Hariprasad. The exhibits, showcasing the skill and creativity involved in traditional weaving, became a special attraction of the exhibition. The students gained practical exposure by observing various weaving techniques, textile designing, and the processes involved in textile production.

The exhibition was visited by Vemulawada Municipal Commissioner Sri Lokesh and Municipal Manager Sri Sampath Reddy, who inspected the students’ artworks and appreciated their creativity and efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, College Principal and Convenor P. S. R. Sharma stated that such programmes aim to provide students with practical skills along with academic knowledge. He said that hands-on training in weaving, textile production, designing, and marketing would enhance the students’ skills and create awareness about future self-employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Vice Principal and Co-Convenor K. Lavanya, Coordinator Ms. M. Fouzia Bhanu, Head dept of Design and Technology Co-Coordinators Smt. S. Poojitha and Ms. M. Pallavi, Subject Coordinators Ms. K. Kavya and Ms. A. Pravalika, along with faculty members and students, participated in the programme.
