HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 11, 2026: The Telangana government has imposed a one-year prohibition on the manufacture, processing, packing, storage, distribution and sale of non-dairy, artificial or analogue paneer in any form across the State, citing public health concerns.
According to an official notification issued by the Commissioner of Food Safety (TG SAFE), the ban has been enforced in the interest of public health under Section 30(2)(a) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The order, effective from September 10, applies across the entire state to any synthetic or plant-based fat imitation sold or marketed under the name of dairy paneer. Food safety authorities warned that stringent legal action will be initiated against violators engaging in the production, logistics, or sale of adulterated or artificial substitutes.
The decision comes days after Telangana food safety authorities found palm oil and glycerol monostearate at dairy units allegedly manufacturing analogue paneer during inspections in Hyderabad.
