Prof. E. Ram Bhaskar Raju Delivers Lecture on ‘English for Tourism’
HANAMKONDA, SEPTEMBER 07, 2026: The Department of History at Pingle Government College for Women (A), Waddepally, Hanamkonda, is organising a specialised Certificate Course in Tourism for its students. As part of this course, a special lecture was organised today, featuring Prof. Dr E. Ram Bhaskar Raju from Kakatiya Government College (A) as the resource person. He delivered an extensive and insightful talk on the topic “English for Tourism.”
The session lasted for about two hours at a stretch in a highly interactive mode. Prof. Ram Bhaskar Raju emphasised the pivotal role of English language proficiency and focused deeply on ‘Heritage Interpretation and Communication’. The engaging session was received with immense satisfaction and enthusiasm by the students.
During his lecture, Prof. Ram Bhaskar Raju shed light on several core areas, including:
- Heritage Tourism: Understanding the concepts of tangible and intangible heritage.
- Communication Skills: Effective storytelling techniques, public speaking, and voice modulation to captivate tourists.
- Cross-Cultural Communication: Interacting respectfully while valuing diverse global and regional cultures.
- Customer Care & Group Management: Methods to efficiently manage tourist groups with a service-oriented mindset.
- Guiding Techniques: Practical approaches to guiding tourists at historical monuments, museums, pilgrimage centres, and natural attractions.
The program was presided over by the college Principal, Prof. Lt. Dr B. Chandra Mouli, and co-chaired by Vice-Principal Dr. Suhasini. The lecture series for this certificate course is being actively managed and executed by Dr. Kolipaka Srinivas, Convener, Organising Secretary, and Head of the Department of History, who brings enormous field experience to the program.
The event saw active participation from college faculty members, including the College IQAC Coordinator Dr. D. Suresh Babu (Associate Prof. of Computer Science), Dr Padma from the Department of Economics, and the Guest Faculty of the History Department. A large number of students attended and made the programme a grand success.
