Modern Technology to Be Utilised to Enhance Safety

DGMS Officials, Singareni Officers, Recognised and Representative Trade Unions, and Management Representatives Participate
HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 03, 2026: Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyoti stated that the safety of employees would always be accorded greater priority than coal production. He said that all necessary measures would be taken to make Singareni accident-free and that the suggestions made by trade unions would be duly considered.
He was addressing the 50th Tripartite Safety Review Meeting held on Thursday at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad. Officials from the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), representatives of the Singareni Officers’ Association, leaders of recognised and representative trade unions, and management representatives participated in the meeting and held detailed discussions on safety measures in Singareni mines.
Speaking on the occasion, CMD Buddhaprakash Jyoti said that the management would review how effectively accident-prevention measures are being implemented, whether past mistakes are being repeated, and what modern technologies are available to ensure accident-free mining. Appropriate decisions would be taken after examining these aspects, he said. He also assured that suitable action would be taken on the suggestions made by trade union leaders during the meeting.
Director of Mines Safety Dr. Sagesh Kumar, who participated in the meeting, said that the trade unions had offered several valuable suggestions. He appreciated the commitment shown by both the Singareni management and trade unions towards improving safety. He also noted that the number of fatal accidents had declined significantly this year compared with the past.
He suggested that a common biometric attendance system for both Singareni employees and contract workers at opencast mines should be implemented immediately. He further stated that the DGMS would always be ready to extend necessary support and training to enhance the safety of Singareni employees.
The meeting was attended by Singareni Collieries Workers’ recognised trade union President Shri Vasireddy Seetharamaiah and Secretary Shri Raj Kumar; representative trade union INTUC Secretary General Shri Janak Prasad and Senior Vice President Shri S. Narasimha Reddy; Officers’ Association President Shri Tallapalli Lakshmipathi Goud and General Secretary Shri Peddi Narasimhulu.
Representatives from various areas also offered several suggestions for enhancing safety and improving healthcare services across Singareni. They brought various issues prevailing in their respective mines to the attention of the meeting.
They suggested measures such as addressing staff shortages, providing modern medical services, imparting proper training to contract workers, supplying quality safety boots, appointing the required number of supervisors, employees and officers in mines, and ensuring the availability of spare parts. Senior management officials assured them that appropriate measures would be taken to address these issues.
General Manager (Safety) Shri Saibaba welcomed the participants to the meeting. At the outset, the gathering observed condolences for workers who had lost their lives in recent accidents. This was followed by a review of the decisions taken at the previous year’s Tripartite Safety Meeting. The meeting proceeded in a cordial atmosphere.

Satyanarayana, Shri Raj Kumar, Shri K. Maheshwar Reddy and Shri Pankaj Kumar Jain, along with Deputy Directors and other officials.
