Monash University Delegation Meets Singareni CMD Dr. Buddaprakash Jyoti
HYDERABAD, AUGUST 31, 2026: Monash University, one of Australia’s leading research institutions, has invited Singareni to explore collaboration opportunities in Australia, a country with abundant critical mineral resources.
A delegation from Monash University met Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Dr Buddaprakash Jyoti at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday evening and briefed him on opportunities in Australia’s critical minerals sector. The delegation stated that Australia is keen to encourage partnerships with international organisations in the critical minerals sector and invited Singareni, with its extensive experience in mining, to explore a mutually beneficial partnership.
The delegation observed that there is growing global demand for critical minerals and stated that Monash University is prepared to provide technical expertise in advanced technologies, environmentally sustainable mining practices and commercially viable strategic business initiatives in this sector.
The delegation also highlighted Monash University’s expertise in research, education, industry collaboration and transforming research outcomes into commercially viable technological solutions. It stated that the university has been working with industries and research institutions across the world in various sectors.
The meeting primarily focused on the growing global importance of critical minerals and the opportunities available in their exploration, extraction, processing and refining, as well as the manufacture of value-added products. The Monash University delegation also explained the potential for creating additional value through downstream processing and refining rather than limiting operations to the extraction of raw minerals.
The delegation suggested that Singareni could utilise Monash University’s expertise in areas such as sustainable mining, environmentally friendly practices, mine closure planning, advanced technologies and the development of skilled human resources.
On the occasion, Singareni officials made a PowerPoint presentation to the Monash University delegation explaining the company’s initiatives to enter the critical minerals sector. They also informed the delegation that Singareni had recently commenced exploration for gold and copper deposits in Karnataka.
Singareni CMD Dr. Buddaprakash Jyoti said that the company is examining opportunities across the world to establish mutually beneficial partnerships in the critical minerals sector. He said that possibilities for future cooperation between Singareni and Monash University would be explored in areas such as research, advanced technology, critical minerals and skill development. He further stated that a high-level team of Singareni officials would soon be sent to Australia to explore the opportunities available there.
The meeting was attended from Singareni Bhavan by Director (Personnel & Finance) Sri. Gowtham Potru and GM (Coordination & Marketing) Sri. T. Srinivas. From the Kothagudem Corporate Office, Director (Operations) Sri. L.V. Suryanarayana, Director (PP) Sri. K. Venkateshwarlu, GM (BD) Sri. Ramdas and GM (Exploration) Sri. Pankaj Kulshreshtha participated. Monash University Professor Yiannis Ventikos and other members of the delegation were also present.
