Exploration activities should be completed at the earliest with the cooperation of local people
BENGALURU, AUGUST 27, 2026: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has called upon everyone to work together to extract gold and copper minerals on a large scale from the Devadurga mine in Karnataka and contribute to increasing the wealth of the nation.
The Deputy Chief Minister officially launched the gold and copper mining exploration programme undertaken by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) at Lingadahalli village in Devadurga taluk of Raichur district. Following the launch, he personally inspected the mineral exploration sites on the ground.
On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister recalled that Singareni Collieries, which has nearly 136 years of extensive experience in the mining sector, had secured exploration rights for the Devadurga Block through the tenders conducted by the Central Government.
Speaking after the field inspection, Bhatti Vikramarka said that Singareni would soon accelerate the exploration activities. He expressed confidence that if the project succeeds and significant quantities of gold and copper are found, it would not only create large-scale employment opportunities for unemployed youth in the region but also accelerate the development of the area.
He announced that Singareni would soon establish a site office at Devadurga to enable officials to stay at the location and closely monitor the exploration activities. A helipad would also be established to facilitate travel and movement. Construction works would begin as soon as the local revenue authorities allot the required land.
Bhatti Vikramarka also highlighted the deep historical and cultural bond between the Telugu and Kannada people living on both sides of the Krishna River. He recalled that this region was once part of Hyderabad State and said that the people of both regions share common roots.
He appealed to the local people to extend their cooperation and help complete the project successfully at the earliest. He expressed the hope that the exploration programme would contribute significantly to the progress of both Telangana and Karnataka and strengthen the country’s economy by adding to its mineral wealth.
Singareni CMD recalls his association with Devadurga
Singareni CMD Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyothi said that he had a special association with the Devadurga region. He recalled that he had previously worked in the area as a Circle Inspector and expressed happiness at returning to the region in his present capacity as Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni to launch the gold and copper exploration activities in the presence of local people.
He expressed the hope that, with the blessings of Sri Paramananda Swamy, significant gold deposits would be discovered in the region and that the project would create employment opportunities for local people.
Deputy CM inspects gold and copper mineral block in Raichur
 Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka received a warm welcome on his arrival at Lingadahalli village from Ravi Bosuraju, Congress leader and son of former Karnataka Minister Bosuraju, along with local Sarpanch Yellamma and others.
As part of his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the areas identified for mineral exploration from the Devadurga gold mineral block viewpoint at Lingadahalli. He later visited an exhibition displaying various mineral samples collected by Singareni officials from the block.
He enquired with officials about the proposed gold and copper exploration and extraction processes and reviewed the plans in detail.
The Deputy Chief Minister subsequently held a review meeting with Singareni officials and the Karnataka State administration and issued directions regarding the mineral exploration programme.
At the conclusion of his field visit, Bhatti Vikramarka visited the historic Sri Paramananda Shiva Temple in Lingadahalli village and performed special prayers.
Singareni Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyothi, Director C.K. Venkateshwarlu, General Manager Pankaj Kul Shreshtha, public representatives from Telangana and Karnataka, senior Singareni officials and local leaders participated in the programme.
