JAGTIAL, AUGUST 24, 2026: The Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Jagtial organised a Financial Literacy and Awareness Programme under the guidance of S. Mallikarjun, in-charge of the Commerce Department.
N Sangeeta Rani, Staff Secretary, highlighted the importance of financial literacy in empowering students to make informed financial decisions, develop responsible financial habits and understand opportunities and risks in the modern financial system. She emphasised that awareness of banking, investment, digital finance and cyber security is essential for students’ personal and professional growth.
The programme was conducted in three sessions—one for B.A. and B.Com students, one for B.Sc. Life Sciences and Physical Sciences students, and a separate session for faculty members. More than 150 students and 35 faculty members actively participated.

The resource person, Mr. Sreenivas Kosuri, BFSI Trainer, Company Secretary and Former SBI Banker, brought over 15 years of experience in banking, financial education and skill development. He sensitised participants on financial literacy, investor awareness, capital markets, mutual funds, banking products and services, financial planning, digital banking, cyber-security awareness and career opportunities in the BFSI sector. His interactive approach using practical examples, case studies, discussions, group activities and quizzes made the sessions engaging and useful.
Vice Principal Chandraiah appreciated the initiative and commended the commerce department for organising a meaningful programme that strengthened financial awareness and practical knowledge among students and faculty. He encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained in their academic, personal and professional lives.
The programme concluded with active participation and positive feedback from students and faculty. Mallesham and Parmesh of the Commerce Department, G Sreelatha, Neeraja, Prof Varaprasad, V Jamuna, Sunita, Sangeeta, & other faculty were present.
