KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 21, 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched an awareness programme on Joint Admission for Masters (JAM) for admissions into MSc for the year 2027 at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Nagunur, in Karimnagar town on Friday.
Prof. Beeraiah Baire, Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras, has conducted the programme as part of the IIT Madras Outreach Programme. The Joint Admission Test for Masters, or JAM, is a national-level entrance examination for admission to postgraduate programmes in science and related disciplines. The examination provides a route to postgraduate study at participating IITs.
The official JAM 2027 examination serves as a gateway to postgraduate programmes offered by premier institutes and currently highlights around 3,000 seats across participating IIT postgraduate programmes. JAM scores are used for admission to programmes such as MSc and other postgraduate programmes, depending on the institute and programme-specific eligibility requirements.

The session focused on PG admission opportunities at IITs and IISc, covering subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics and Geology. The resource person also briefed students on the exam pattern, application and examination dates, Dual Degree and M.Sc.–Ph.D. programmes, and shared mock-test resources.
Principal T. Malathi encouraged the students to aspire for admission to premier institutions like IITs and IISc, broaden their horizons, and explore greater opportunities for higher education and career development. CGC Coordinator M. Rajitha, Placement Coordinator D. Mamatha, and all final-year students attended the session.
