KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 08, 2026: Bonalu, the traditional festival of Telangana, was celebrated with great devotion and grandeur at Bhagavathi High School, Karimnagar, on Saturday. Students dressed in beautiful traditional attire participated in a colourful procession carrying Bonam pots on their heads, accompanied by energetic Pothuraju performances, captivating everyone present.
As part of the celebrations, students explained the significance of the Bonalu festival, highlighting its cultural, spiritual, and historical importance. They also described the connection between traditional practices and medical science in protecting people from seasonal diseases caused by climatic changes. The students effectively demonstrated how natural materials such as earthen pots, turmeric, and neem leaves possess medicinal properties and contribute to health and well-being.
The audience was further entertained by vibrant traditional dances and folk performances presented by the students. The programme was graced by the presence of Chairman Mr. B. Ramana Rao, Director Mrs. B. Vijayalaxmi, and Academic Director Mr. Prathap Reddy as the chief guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Mr. B. Ramana Rao said, “Bonalu is not just a festival; it is a symbol of Telangana’s rich culture, traditions, devotion, and social harmony. Students should understand and respect their cultural heritage and traditions. Such celebrations help develop leadership qualities, self-confidence, and respect for Indian values among children.”
The programme concluded successfully with the enthusiastic participation of Vice Principal Mr. P. Ram Mohan Rao, teachers, students, and parents, making the Bonalu celebrations a memorable and meaningful event.
