VIZIANAGARAM, AUGUST 01, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth over ₹17,900 crore in Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. Highlighting the immense significance of the day for the Swarna Andhra vision, the Prime Minister expressed profound gratitude for visiting the sacred land of North Andhra during such an auspicious month, offering his deep respects to Lord Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, Sri Kurmanath Swamy, and Maa Pydithalli Ammavaru. “It is my great privilege to be on the holy land of North Andhra today to witness this momentous occasion,” noted Shri Modi.

Inaugurating and laying the foundation for development projects worth approximately eighteen thousand crore rupees, the Prime Minister emphasised that these multi-sectoral initiatives encompassing airport infrastructure, road connectivity, and energy security perfectly symbolise the state’s rapid pace of progress. “These development works are a true symbol of the incredible speed at which Andhra Pradesh is advancing,” observed Shri Modi.
Framing the event as a moment of unprecedented historical significance, the Prime Minister pointed out that alongside monumental infrastructural milestones, the day was equally marked by a spectacular cultural world record achieved through the traditional Dhimsa dance. “Today’s event is about creating a new history and setting new records on multiple fronts,” asserted Shri Modi.

Announcing the government’s formal decision to name the new aviation facility after the legendary freedom fighter, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the monumental tribute would instil a profound sense of national duty in every traveller passing through its gates. “Any citizen travelling through this airport will instantly draw inspiration for public and national service from the name of Sri Alluri Sitarama Raju,” asserted Shri Modi.
Outlining the extraordinary transformation of the civil aviation sector over the past twelve years, the Prime Minister contrasted the meager seventy-four operational airports in 2014 with the current count of one hundred and sixty-six, celebrating the democratization of air travel for ordinary citizens from smaller cities under the current administration. “Today, the common people of small cities are comfortably traveling by flights, marking a departure from when air travel was restricted to large metropolises,” observed Shri Modi.
Crediting the UDAN scheme for fundamentally shifting the aviation landscape, the Prime Minister highlighted how the initiative has successfully enabled impoverished families to realize their flying dreams, further detailing the recent launch of its second phase backed by a massive twenty-nine thousand crore rupee investment. “This scheme has actively helped even the poorest of the poor in fulfilling their lifelong dreams,” affirmed Shri Modi.
Pointing to another major milestone in the aviation sector, the Prime Minister referenced the recent rollout of the ‘spoke airport’ model in Kashi, which has now successfully expanded to Amritsar, dramatically linking the city in Punjab to over twenty-five international destinations. “From this very land of Andhra, I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Punjab for this achievement,” remarked Shri Modi.
The Prime Minister commended the current leadership under the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, and is now executing the state’s growth agenda at twice the speed. “Our Andhra Pradesh has always possessed the immense capability to become the ultimate growth engine for a Viksit Bharat,” asserted Shri Modi.
Detailing the national strategy to aggressively fortify the Blue Economy, the Prime Minister outlined the ambitious vision of transforming the entire coastal stretch into an integrated economic corridor through the modernization of heritage ports from Visakhapatnam to Krishnapatnam and the construction of new maritime hubs at Mulapeta and Ramayapatnam. “Our strategic vision is to comprehensively develop this entire region as a thriving Coastal Economic Corridor,” affirmed Shri Modi.
Complementing the expansive port developments, the Prime Minister highlighted the rapid construction of a dense highway and expressway network across the state, citing major arteries like the Visakhapatnam-Raipur Expressway as critical catalysts for regional momentum. “These expressway projects are fundamentally imparting unprecedented speed to this entire geographic region,” noted Shri Modi.
Emphasizing the urgent need to seamlessly connect the region with major national industrial hubs, the Prime Minister announced that railway projects worth approximately one lakh crore rupees are currently underway, boasting complete network electrification and the modernization of over seventy stations. “We are actively working to ensure this entire region connects effortlessly with the country’s largest industrial centers,” asserted Shri Modi.
Integrating these multi-modal transport upgrades, the Prime Minister underscored the pivotal role of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan in unifying rail, port, and air infrastructure, which will ultimately optimize logistics, empower local farmers, and significantly boost the ease of doing business. ”Once this modern logistics network is fully ready, it will provide better connectivity to industries and greatly benefit our farmers, and the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ will also improve” observed Shri Modi.
Praising the state’s historical propensity for forward-thinking innovation, the Prime Minister lauded the global dominance of local youth in the software and technology sectors, reiterating the government’s steadfast commitment to harnessing this incredible talent pool directly for regional development.
Stressing the absolute necessity of retaining and utilizing this youthful brilliance domestically, the Prime Minister shifted focus toward futuristic tech industries, identifying the foundation laying of the new semiconductor plant in Visakhapatnam as a monumental stride in that specific direction. “Our primary focus is now firmly set on futuristic tech industries like semiconductors to maximize the potential of our talented youth,” affirmed Shri Modi.
Envisioning a transformative industrial shift, the Prime Minister projected that the state will seamlessly transition into a formidable manufacturing hub alongside its software prowess, thereby generating an entirely new ecosystem of futuristic employment opportunities. “This strategic evolution will successfully create futuristic jobs and a brand-new environment for tech industries across the state,” noted Shri Modi.
Explaining the complex mechanics of global economic growth centers, the Prime Minister clarified that solitary factories are insufficient without a comprehensive surrounding ecosystem, a supportive environment that is currently being meticulously crafted in the state thanks to the relentless personal efforts of the Chief Minister. “It is strictly the result of this day-and-night hard work that many large global companies now eagerly want to invest here,” observed Shri Modi.
Expanding on the advanced technological infrastructure, the Prime Minister highlighted concurrent developments in AI and data centers, explicitly mentioning Google’s massive fifteen-billion-dollar campus announcement as a clear indicator of the immense global interest that will directly benefit local youth. “Many more global companies are seeing incredible new possibilities here, heavily benefiting the youth of both the state and the country,” affirmed Shri Modi.
Broadening the scope of the state’s industrial narrative beyond digital technology, the Prime Minister pointed to the central government’s substantial support for a massive new Pharma Park in Nakkapalli, positioning the state to become a leading national pharmaceutical hub. “With this support, Andhra Pradesh will rapidly develop into one of the country’s largest pharma hubs,” asserted Shri Modi.
Turning to the renewable energy sector, the Prime Minister revealed that the Rayalaseema region alone has attracted investments exceeding five lakh crore rupees, offering a firm reassurance to the public regarding the administration’s relentless dedication to materializing these ambitious goals. “Our government will continue working day and night to turn every such immense possibility into a solid reality,” affirmed Shri Modi.

Expressing deep satisfaction over the systematic empowerment of the northern districts within this broader growth narrative, the Prime Minister detailed the strategic evolution of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER) into a premier Asian economic powerhouse, with every new facility contributing to this unified mission. “Our ultimate target is to ensure that the Visakhapatnam Economic Region becomes the most prominent economic hub in Asia,” asserted Shri Modi.
