KARIMNAGAR, JULY 20, 2026: The Karimnagar District Congress leaders have urged Collector Chitra Mishra to take measures for the conversion of the existing minor irrigation tank into a reservoir for the benefit of the farmers of Kothapalli mandal and the people of Karimnagar town.
In a memorandum submitted to the Collector during the weekly ‘Prajavani’ (Public grievances redressal) programme on Monday, the Congress leaders Algandula Mallesham, V Rajamallaiah and others stated that the construction of a reservoir at Kothapalli tank would benefit the farmers and considerably recharge the groundwater table to benefit the people of Karimnagar town in Rekurthi, Bank colony, Jyothinagar, Chaitanyapuri, Vidyanagar, Bhagyanagar, Mankammathota, Kashmirgadda and other locations.
The Collector also directed the Irrigation department CE to examine the issue as per the guidelines. Earlier, the Congress leaders submitted the petition to Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar, who had directed the Collector to examine and resolve the issue.
