Reiterates Commitment to Protect Growers’ Interests
HYDERABAD, JULY 09, 2026A team of senior officers from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, led by Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, reviewed the ongoing Andhra Pradesh FCV tobacco marketing season (2025–26) in Hyderabad today. The team held discussions with tobacco growers, manufacturers, exporters, dealers, trade associations and Tobacco Board.
The meeting reviewed the prevailing market situation and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting growers’ interests and discussed measures to accelerate procurement and to facilitate exports. It also reviewed initiatives such as restructuring of the Tobacco Board, enhancement of Growers’ Welfare Fund benefits, simplification of registration procedures, digital initiatives and AI-based grading.
The meeting discussed ways to expand export-related market opportunities in various countries, along with crop diversification in suitable areas. The Additional Secretary expressed confidence that coordinated efforts by all stakeholders would strengthen the long-term sustainability and global competitiveness of the Indian FCV tobacco sector.
