Dr Raghu Raman selected for the ‘Professional Excellence Award’ of IMA

KARIMNAGAR, JULY 1, 2026: Senior consultant physician and family physician Dr D Raghu Raman, M.D. (Medicine) has been selected for the prestigious ‘Professional Excellence Award’ by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter on the occasion of Doctor’s Day on Wednesday.

Dr Raghu Raman has been selected for the award for his outstanding contributions to healthcare, public health awareness, social service and philanthropic activities, youth empowerment and his dedicated service to the society for over 43 years in Karimnagar. Dr Raghu Raman will receive the prestigious award during the Doctor’s Day celebrations at IMA Hall in Karimnagar town on Wednesday evening in the presence of several dignitaries.

Dr Raghu Raman, who graduated from Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, in 1977, was awarded the Gold Medal for Best Outgoing Student of his batch. Completed M.D. (Medicine) from Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, in December 1981. Practising as a Consultant Physician in Karimnagar since January 1982.  Over 43 years of dedicated service as a Family Physician.

Dr. Raghu Raman serves as Trustee of the Daram Susheela Memorial Trust and has actively undertaken numerous social welfare initiatives benefiting thousands of people across Karimnagar district.

Conducted awareness programs on World Hand Hygiene Day emphasizing prevention of infectious diseases such as Typhoid and Jaundice. Regularly promotes preventive healthcare, patient education, and community health awareness.

Distributed ORS packets to Electricity Department staff, Linemen, Fire Department personnel, and field workers during extreme summer conditions to prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesses.

Environmental Protection

* Distributed eco-friendly biodegradable bags to the public on World Environment Day and promoted reduction of plastic usage under the slogan “Plastic Vaddhu – Batta Sanchi Muddu.” He had been actively crusading against the use of plastic and promoting cloth bags

Service to Pilgrims

Organized annual service camps for Hanuman devotees undertaking foot pilgrimages to Kondagattu temple shrine. Distributed socks, first-aid ointments, buttermilk, bananas, and reflective safety stickers to ensure the comfort and road safety of devotees.

Distributed Hanuman Chalisa books and Hare Rama Hare Krishna educational posters to hundreds of children through schools, temples, meditation centres, and summer camps. Encouraged value-based education through support of Bhagavad Gita learning programs and moral education initiatives.

Youth Development

Honoured and supported national-level athletes from Karimnagar district by providing sports track suits and encouragement. Recognised and felicitated athletics coaches and sports administrators who nurture talented rural youth.

Supported orphanages and child welfare institutions through educational materials, prizes, and motivational interactions.  Participated in programmes encouraging physical fitness, discipline, and character building among children and youth.

On this occasion, Dr Raghu Raman dedicated the honour to his patients, colleagues, and all healthcare professionals working tirelessly to improve healthcare and rural health services. He affirmed his commitment to continue serving society with compassion, scientific excellence and community-oriented healthcare.
