Municipal Corporation launches anti-encroachment drive at busy Tower circle in Karimnagar town

MCK commissioner states that they would continue to drive against the encroachment of footpaths in the entire Karimnagar town

KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 25, 2026:  Officials of the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar have continued their drive against the encroachment of footpaths of traders and vendors as part of its ongoing campaign to ensure smooth traffic movement and reclaim public spaces.

Accordingly, the MCK officials have launched an action against the encroachments of footpaths at the busy tower circle area in Karimnagar town on Thursday. The civic authorities removed encroachments that were obstructing pedestrian movement and narrowing roads, causing inconvenience to commuters and contributing to traffic congestion in the busy commercial area.

Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai has directed officials to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal encroachments in the city. He said that shopkeepers and vendors had already been issued warnings and given sufficient time to remove encroachments voluntarily.

He said the anti-encroachment campaign would continue in the coming days and that no leniency would be shown towards those occupying public spaces illegally. He added that the Municipal Corporation is committed to improving traffic management and ensuring that roads, footpaths and public areas remain free from unauthorised occupation.

He stated that the footpaths were meant only for pedestrians and they would deal firmly against those who encroach on the footpaths and roads and cause by public nuisance and traffic congestion. The operation was carried out by ACPs Venu and Sridhar, TPS Tejaswini, TPBOs Naveen, Sai Charan, Sai Kiran and Khader Moinudding, DRF incharge Laxman and others were also present.

Similarly, it is also time for the MCK authorities to launch a special drive against the encroachment of footpaths, parking places and roads around Ambedkar stadium and on the Collectorate, which has become a big nuisance and a source of traffic snarls on the busy road. The MCK officials should also focus on the removal of illegal auto-stands, which have come up haphazardly in various parts of the town and causing traffic snarls.
