
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 06, 2026: State Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has directed officials to ensure seamless coordination among all departments for the government-led arrangements, anticipating a large turnout of people from across the country to receive the ‘Fish Prasadam’ on the occasion of Mrugasira Karthi.
Mr Prabhakar inspected the arrangements at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds where the Fish Prasadam is distributed to asthma patients on Mrugasira Karthi falling on the 8th of this month alongside colleague Minister Vakiti Srihari, Rajya Sabha Member Anil Kumar Yadav, Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Saikumar, and SATS Chairman Shivasena Reddy. He comprehensively reviewed the site and issued necessary directives to the officials.
On this occasion, the Minister inspected the distribution counters and barricades. He ordered the installation of fans and coolers for devotees in the queue lines, considering the summer heat, and instructed officials to implement robust measures to prevent any inconvenience or hardship. As the distribution of fish prasadam is scheduled to begin at 9 PM on the 8th June, police officials have been ordered to maintain constant surveillance via the control room. They were instructed to remain vigilant to prevent stampedes in the queue lines and to implement effective traffic control measures.
Instructions were given to ensure that fans and coolers in the queue lines remain operational at all times.
Orders were also issued to ensure an uninterrupted power supply and the availability of drinking water, as well as to keep waterproof generators ready for use.
Officials from all departments were directed to work in coordination until the distribution concludes, utilizing WhatsApp groups and the control room at the exhibition grounds for monitoring purposes.
Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring there are no traffic disruptions in the Nampally area. Instructions were given to arrange for ambulances and to set up medical camps stocked with necessary medicines.
Medical officials were directed to deploy CPR teams to monitor the queue lines continuously. The Minister ordered officials to immediately report any issues or inconveniences to the control room.
Given the summer season, instructions were issued to constantly monitor electrical wiring across the venue and to keep fire engines on standby.
It was also directed that She Teams be deployed and that public awareness campaigns, including announcements warning against pickpocketing, be conducted for the visiting crowds. Instructions were issued for the police department to maintain continuous surveillance via CCTV cameras.
It was informed that voluntary organisations would provide breakfast and meals to visiting devotees just as they do every year, to ensure there are no issues regarding drinking water, and the public was urged to accept these offerings.
The Minister stated that everyone should come forward to receive the Fish Prasadam in Hyderabad, transcending caste, religion, and politics, noting that a healthy Telangana is the shared goal.
He stated that robust measures are being implemented to ensure a smooth process, given the event’s timing on the night of Mrugasira Karthi.
The Minister clarified that the distribution would continue uninterrupted until late on the 9th, assuring that the government takes full responsibility for ensuring every single person receives the Prasadam.
He noted that, given the large number of people participating with faith and trust, the government has made appropriate arrangements. Furthermore, voluntary organizations are partnering to provide accommodation, food, and other facilities to visitors from other states, ensuring they face no inconvenience.
Officials were directed not to delay any tasks related to the arrangements or their assigned duties. The Minister mentioned that the Fisheries Department has made approximately 140,000 high-quality Murrel (Korraminu) fishlings available for the event.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining law and order and instructed police officials to keep a constant watch.
Speaking next, Fisheries Minister Vakiti Srihari noted that the Mrugasira Karthi period brings about a change in weather, marking the transition from heat to cooler conditions. He highlighted that the Bathini brothers have been distributing the fish prasadam to the public under government auspices for 176 years, driven by faith and trust.
He mentioned that the Minister-in-charge has already held several review meetings with all the concerned departments. He also stated that their department has arranged for the supply of 140,000 fishlings. It was stated that the Bathini family traditionally organises this event and that all departments are working in coordination to ensure its success.
He also assured that the fish prasadam would be distributed to every single person in the queue. The medicine is considered a boon for treating breathlessness and asthma. The ministers affirmed that they would remain on-site until the event concluded to address any needs that might arise.
Subsequently, MP Anil Kumar Yadav spoke, noting that since hundreds of thousands of people are arriving with faith and trust to receive the prasadam, officials from all departments are expediting arrangements following directives from the Chief Minister, In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and the Fisheries Minister to ensure the event proceeds smoothly on the 8th and 9th.
Earlier, District Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala, accompanied by Additional CP Tafseer Iqbal, inspected the arrangements, including drinking water supply, uninterrupted electricity, stage setup, queue lines, barricading, VIP queues and gathered details from the concerned officials.
Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner B. Santhosh, Goshamahal Deputy Commissioner Usha Prakash, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Venkati, RDO Ramakrishna, and officials from the GHMC, Revenue, Electricity, Fisheries, Police, and R&B departments participated in the event.
