JAGTIAL, MAY 15, 2026: As part of the “Telangana Prajapalana Pragathi Pranalika – Education Week” celebrations, the 5th day programme themed “Libraries as Knowledge Centres” was organised grandly at SKNR Government Arts & Science College. The event highlighted the importance of libraries in nurturing knowledge, wisdom, intellectual growth, and reading habits among students and faculty members.
Presiding over the programme, Principal Prof. A. Ashok addressed the gathering and emphasised the significance of book reading in academic and personal development. He stated that books are the true companions of human beings and that regular reading transforms individuals into intellectuals and responsible citizens. He encouraged students to cultivate the habit of reading beyond textbooks to enhance their creativity, analytical thinking, communication skills, and overall personality development.
As part of the celebrations, the Principal inaugurated a special Library Book Exhibition organised in the college library. The exhibition showcased a wide range of academic books, competitive examination materials, reference books, journals, encyclopedias, and rare manuscripts. An Electronic Compendium displaying digital learning resources and e-library facilities was also exhibited for the benefit of students. Rare old editions and valuable manuscripts preserved in the library attracted special appreciation from the participants.
On this occasion, faculty members who contributed to academic literature through book writing were felicitated by the college administration. Prof. A. Srinivas, Lt. P. Raju, and GVR Sai Madhukar were honoured for their valuable contribution in authoring academic books and promoting knowledge dissemination among students and society.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and non-teaching staff. Librarian K. Surender explained the importance of modern libraries and digital learning resources in higher education institutions. Faculty members A. Govardhan, Rajitha, Divya Rani, Pramod, Naresh, and Kavitha participated actively and appreciated the efforts of the library department in organising the event successfully.
Non-teaching staff members Prabhu, Anil, and Chinna Rajam also participated in the programme and extended their support for the successful conduct of the celebrations. Students visited the exhibition with great interest and interacted with faculty members regarding various academic resources available in the library.
The programme concluded with a call to students to make effective use of library resources and transform libraries into vibrant centres of knowledge, innovation, and lifelong learning.
