
CMD Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyothi Congratulates the Team Employees and Officials Appreciate on Social Media, Singareni Reclaims International Recognition after Two Decades
Hyderabad, MAY 06, 2026: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has once again demonstrated its excellence by securing First Prize in the Underground Mines Rescue Category at the International Mines Rescue Competitions held recently in Zambia. The Singareni team showcased outstanding skill and professionalism, competing against rescue teams from several countries across the world. From India, teams from Coal India Limited, SCCL, and other companies participated in the event. Notably, after nearly two decades, Singareni has once again delivered an exceptional performance at the international level, reaffirming its capability and strength in mine rescue operations.
The competitions were conducted from April 30 to May 5, 2026, with participation from teams representing various countries, including India, China, Colombia, Zambia, Canada, Australia, and Poland. From India, teams from Coal India Limited, SCCL, and other companies participated.
The underground rescue competition assessed teams on firefighting (20 marks), rescue operations (20 marks), and technical support (10 marks). The Singareni team excelled in all these areas and secured the top position.
As part of the events, a 90-minute technical test was conducted at the Mopani Central Training Centre in Mufulira. Representing Singareni, Sri CH. Sai Krishna successfully completed the task in just 52 minutes by rectifying and refilling a carbon dioxide absorbent canister.
After that, in another event held at the West Portal Mine, the team was tasked with locating and rescuing two individuals trapped in an underground mine at a depth of 700 meters. Although 2 hours were allotted, the Singareni team completed the task in just 52 minutes. The team carried out key operations such as installing an L-bend in a pump, shutting down a substation, locating the victims using the given mine plan, reviving one unconscious person found near an LHD machine, and safely transporting another injured individual to the mine surface over a distance of more than 700 meters following full rescue procedures. The entire process was monitored by a panel of two judges.
The Singareni rescue team displayed remarkable alertness, discipline, and coordination, completing all tasks well within the stipulated time and earning appreciation from the judges.

The Singareni rescue team was trained under the leadership of General Manager (Rescue) Sri Srinivas Reddy at the Ramagundam Mines Rescue Station. The team members included Sri G. Pramod Kumar, Sri B. Nithin Kumar, Sri N. Bhanu Prasad,
Sri A. Shyam Kumar, Sri R. Srikanth, Sri CH. Sai Krishna, and translator Sri G. Rajender Reddy.
Notably, Dr. Rajeshwar from SCCL was invited by the international organisers to serve as a judge in the First Aid category.
