Assures to introduce ‘Police Akka’ teams throughout the state
NIRMAL, APRIL 14, 2026: Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy has interacted with the ‘Police Akka’ (Shivangi teams), wherein female police personnel from the police stations in the Nirmal district took to the streets for a special patrol. The ‘Police Akka’ concept was taken up by Nirmal SP Dr G Janaki Sharmila, who has won the SKOCH Award, as the programme gained national recognition for its community policing efforts.
The DGP, during his visit to Nirmal town on Tuesday, interacted with ‘Police Akkas’ at Nirmal Rural police station. On this occasion, the DGP appreciated the female police officers of the “Police Akka” programme, who responded to Dial 100 calls addressing citizens’ issues promptly. They expressed joy in performing daily duties such as Dial 100 response and patrolling, and demonstrated that they could perform as well as, if not better than, their male counterparts. He said that the ‘Police Akka’ teams would be introduced throughout the state for better policing.
The women constables participating in the patrol were happy, as evident from the smiles on their faces. This initiative showed the significant impact women can have in society and highlighted their willingness to go the extra mile. Bhainsa Additional SP Rajesh Meena, Nirmal ASP Sai Kiran and others were also present.

The DGP, during his whirlwind tour, inaugurated Bharosa centre and participated in ‘Arrive Alive’ campaign and distributed first aid kits to the lorry drivers, pasted radium stickers on the heavy vehicles and also distributed helmets to the Bluecolts Police patrolling teams.
