RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, APRIL 04, 2026: The Department of Economics of Government Degree College, Sircilla, Textile town, has organised an edu-trip to Mission Bhageeratha (water treatment plant) at Agraharam grid in the district on Saturday.
The educational trip was for the students to educate them about the importance of consuming safe water and ‘Water as a Precious Resource’. DE Ramu at the treatment plant acquainted the students with different processes involved in water treatment, like adding alum, sedimentation, filtration and chlorination of water, etc.
He said that the water purification was being done as per WHO norms and distributing the same to the Sircilla, Vemulawada, Choppadandi, Gambhiraopeta and other mandals of the district and providing safe and protected drinking water to several villages.
The students were also apprised of the statistics, like the amount of water received for purification every day, the amount of water pumped daily, and the amount of water stored in storage tanks. The main purpose of this visit was to give the practical knowledge about how raw water is treated and how water is distributed in different villages. The students got the theoretical and practical knowledge of different processes carried out in the treatment plant
“We must expose our students to wastewater management. They must realise the efforts and cost incurred in converting raw and waste water into drinking water”, said HoD of Economics Markonda Shakunthala. Faculty member Jayapal and others were also present.
