KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 31, 2026: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Nagunur, Karimnagar, under the auspices of the Telugu Department, paid floral tributes to eminent poet, literary figure and prolific author Dr Kapilavai Lingamurthy on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Head of the Telugu Department, Erroju Venkateshwarlu, praised Kapilavai Lingamurthy for his remarkable contributions across multiple literary forms, such as Shatakam, short stories, novels, poetry, songs, Harikatha, historical works, travelogues, autobiographies, biographies, translations, and free verse. He mentioned that his first printed work was ‘Pandarinatha Shatakam’. He also highlighted his historical writings, such as ‘Palamuru Devalayala Charitra’ and ‘Pratapgiri Khandam’, as well as socially conscious works, such as ‘Kutumba Geetam’ and ‘Prabodha Pataham’.
He further appreciated Lingamurthy’s ‘Pamura Samskritam’ (a dialect dictionary of Mahabubnagar district), calling it one of the well-known dictionaries in Telangana. It was noted that he wrote prefaces for 320 books, and 137 of his own works have been published. In recognition of his literary contributions, Telugu University honored him with an honorary doctorate. Students were encouraged to read his works.
Principal T. Malathi distributed prizes to the winners of the essay writing competition. Students Sravanti and Niharika recited poems. The event was attended and successfully conducted with the participation of ACO G. Vasumathi, Superintendent T.Suresh Kumar,K. Varadhika Eshwaramma, Telugu lecturers C.H. Kavitha and A. Renuka, along with other faculty members and students.
