They say that the allegations were ‘false and baseless’ and aimed to personally damage the image of the Karimnagar district police
KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 17, 2026: The Karimnagar district police officials have strongly refuted the allegations made by Huzurabad BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy that Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam and his family members and close associates are conducting firing using sophisticated weapons, including AK-47, SLR and shot weapons at Elgandal firing range on the outskirts of Karimnagar town.
The BRS MLA has alleged that the Karimnagar CP and his family members and others participated in the firing using sophisticated weapons at the firing range on September 22, 2025. The MLA had been frequently raising the issue in the Assembly. He also alleged that a woman, Amruthamma, sustained a bullet injury.
The MLA also targeted the state leadership, asking Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who holds the Home portfolio, to clarify the incident. He warned that such actions by a few officers were damaging the reputation of the entire police force. In a strong statement, Kaushik Reddy said he was willing to resign from his MLA post if his allegations were proven false.
Responding to the claims, sources in the police department dismissed the allegations as “completely baseless.” Officials clarified that the incident occurred on September 21, 2025, during an officially sanctioned constable firing practice session of the PTC Karimnagar.
The sources also said that the Karimnagar CP, along with his family members, went on leave from September 20 onwards for three days to New Delhi on personal work. The police sources asked how the CP’s family members can participate in the firing at Elgandal when they are on leave and camping in New Delhi.
They alleged that the BRS MLA was making it a political vendetta following his humiliation and saying ‘sorry’ for making objectionable remarks against the CP referring to his remarks. The BRS MLA also made allegations that the CP’s official car was being misused by his family members and relatives. The MLA also charged that the CP was involved in several corruption practices.
