HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 20, 2026: Governor of Telangana Jishnu Dev Varma graced the Statehood Day celebrations of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram as the Chief Guest at Lok Bhavan, Hyderabad, on Friday.
Extending his warm greetings to the people of both States, the Governor highlighted the historic significance of 20th February 1987, which marked the attainment of statehood for Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram and the beginning of their inspiring journey towards democratic empowerment and inclusive development.

In his address, he commended the rich cultural heritage, pristine natural beauty, and vibrant traditions of both States, noting their invaluable contributions to India’s unity in diversity. Referring to the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” initiative, he emphasised its role in fostering deeper bonds of national integration and celebrating India’s cultural plurality. Underscoring that India’s strength lies in its diversity, he described “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” as a powerful embodiment of the spirit of one nation enriched by many cultures. He further remarked that Hyderabad has always stood as a symbol of inclusiveness and hospitality, warmly welcoming everyone from every place.

A special highlight of the event was the video messages from the Hon’ble Governors of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, which added dignity and warmth to the occasion.
The celebrations came alive with captivating cultural performances, including a mesmerising traditional bamboo dance presented by talented students and artists from both States.
The program was graced by D. Goutham Sawang, IPS (Retd.); Former DGP, Andhra Pradesh; B.V. Papa Rao, IAS (Retd.); Officers and staff of Lok Bhavan, and esteemed guests from Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram residents settled in Hyderabad.
