KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 19, 2026: Educationist and chairman of Vivekananda Vidyanikethan educational institutions, Sowgani Komuraiah, who has been elected as an independent candidate from the 10th Municipal ward in MCK elections, has decided to rejoin the Bharathitya Janata Party in Karimnagar town very soon.
Mr Komuraiah, who aspired for the BJP ticket in the Municipal elections from Karimnagar town, was denied the ticket during the last minute, forcing him to contest as an independent. He had won the elections as an independent candidate in his first attempt from the 10th division of the MCK.

Later, the Congress party had lured him to attain the Mayor post and promised the support of Congress, BRS, MIM, AIFB and Independents and organised camps in Hyderabad resorts. However, during the last minute of development, the BRS had refused support and withdrawn from the political camp.
Irked over the political development, Mr Komuraiah had withdrawn from the race for the Mayor post and decided to remain ‘neutral’. Though there was pressure from the Congress to join the party offering nominated posts, he refused the same.
Initially, he had decided to remain neutral and independent and strive for the development of the district. Following his association with the BJP and its frontal organisations, he has decided to rejoin the BJP in a day or so. Incidentally, there was pressure from the BJP to rejoin the party. Hence, he has decided to join the BJP very soon.
