KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 06, 2026: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter has urged Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu to take measures to exempt small hospitals and clinics with 50 beds from the Clinical Establishment Act (CEA) on the lines of Haryana and Bihar states.
The Minister for IT visited senior IMA leader Dr Edavelli Vijayender Reddy in Karimnagar town on Thursday night. On this occasion, IMA Telangana state president Dr P Kishan and IMA Karimnagar chapter president Dr Akula Shailaja and others submitted a memorandum and explained how the CEA provisions were adversely affecting small hospitals and clinics and requested the government to adopt the model of Haryana and Bihar, which have exempted hospitals below 50 beds from CEA regulations. Among other demands, the IMA has raised the issue of violence against doctors.

Stating that the permissions for the small hospitals and clinics had been pending for the last year in Karimnagar district, Dr Akula Shailaja urged the Minister to resolve the issue at the earliest. THANA district president Dr Naresh has urged the government to allocate a new site for the construction of the IMA building in Karimnagar town.
