The IMA has planned to launch a flagship outreach programme ‘PANKH’ (Prevention, Awareness, Nutrition, Knowledge and Hope) by conducting cancer awareness camps in various educational institutions
KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 04, 2026: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter, in association with the Women Empowerment and Health Club of Government Degree and PG College for Women in Karimnagar town, has conducted a Cancer awareness programme on Wednesday, on the occasion of World Cancer Day.

IMA district president Dr Akula Shailaja, secretary Dr Mahesh Babu, treasurer Neelima, Dr Chetana and others spoke and enlightened the students on the dreadful disease like cancer as well as its types, symptoms, causes and timely treatment.
Apart from this, they also provided information about the types of cancer being found in different age groups, especially in women, like cervical cancer, breast cancer and oral cancer, etc. While talking about cervical cancer, they highlighted its symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment.

With a commitment to building a healthier society and a vision for a better tomorrow, the IMA Karimnagar chapter has also planned to launch a flagship outreach programme, ‘PANKH’ (Prevention, Awareness, Nutrition, Knowledge and Hope), by conducting cancer awareness camps in various educational institutions.
Principal Prof D Varalakshmi while expressing gratitude to Dr Akula Shailaja and other IMA doctors for providing important information on the subject, averred that we should stay healthy by taking proper treatment of any disease by contacting the doctor at the right time. Women Empowerment Cell convenor B Rajani, Health club incharge Nazia Rahman and others were also present.
